The Vision and Image Understanding Laboratory, within the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at the University of California, Santa Barbara invites applications for an open, full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position with an anticipated start date of 9/1/2019. The laboratory is looking for exceptional individuals with particular emphasis in the area of computational modeling, computer vision, visual search, eye movements, and medical imaging. Under the direction, of Dr. Miguel Eckstein, the Vision and Image Understanding Laboratory investigates visual perception, search, eye movements, attention and learning. The position will be for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal depending upon job performance and availability of funds. Requirements: The successful candidate should have a strong technical background and a Ph.D. in any of the following: Training and experience in a subset of these areas: computer vision, pattern recognition, machine learning, computational modeling, psychophysics, eye movements and/or model observers for medical imaging. The position is available immediately. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD (or equivalent) except the dissertation at the time of application in Psychological and Brain Sciences Vision Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Medical Physics/Imaging, Mathematics, or related a field. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS At least on year of research experience in Computational Neuroscience, Computer Engineering, or Applied Mathematics, supported by a strong publication record, is required. In addition, the successful candidate should have at least one year of experience strong technical background including training in computational vision and computer programming. PhD must be conferred by start of appointment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Applicants with training and experience in a subset of these areas will be given priority: visual search modeling. Bayesian ideal observers, computer vision, pattern recognition, machine learning and deep neural networks, computational modeling, model observers for medical imaging, and/or medical image processing.
