The University of California, Davis, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is recruiting for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant/Associate/Full level in the clinician/teaching series to serve as the Director of Psychological Services for the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), child psychological services lead for the Child Behavioral Health Clinic (CBHC), and to provide and oversee clinical supervision and direct patient care in its CBHC. The IOP is designed to support adolescents with mood and anxiety disorders requiring more services than typical outpatient level of care. This program is comprised of an interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and trainees. Opportunities may exist to participate in specialized outpatient children's mental health clinics (e.g., Pediatric Collaborative Care Program, School-Based Mental Health Program, county child and adolescent psychiatry clinic). The CBHC is an academic outpatient psychiatry clinic serving the greater Northern California region and a diverse patient population. Our clinical staff consists of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, and trainees including medical students, psychiatry residents and fellows, and clinical psychology interns/postdoctoral fellows. We take a team-based approach to mental health treatment and work closely with the rest of the health system including primary care physicians and medical specialists.
The position includes administrative oversight of the psychological services in the IOP and child clinic operations, direct clinical care at the CBHC, along with supervision and teaching psychiatry and psychology trainees. Opportunities to participate in and lead the development of new clinical programs are available. Teaching and supervisory experience of child psychiatry and general psychiatry residents, fellows, and medical students is preferred. Time is allocated for didactic teaching, case conferences, and supervision. In addition, the applicant will engage in scholarly or creative activities derived from and in support of their clinical teaching, professional, and service activities. Opportunities for involvement in established research programs may be available.
The incumbent will provide teaching and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows, participate in appropriate professional societies and educational organizations, provide service to department and school committees. This individual should also have ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment and adhere to University policies and procedures.
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has approximately 65 residents in six residency training programs and 90 faculty and staff psychiatrists and psychologists at the UC Davis Medical Center and the Northern California VA Health System. The incumbent will also have a relationship with clinical and research programs at the UC Davis MIND Institute.
