Background
The faculty of the Psychology Program at Missouri State University are searching for a colleague to join our vibrant and collegial unit. The position is for a tenure track, nine-month appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor that will start August 11, 2025. MSU has a Public Affairs Mission that is supported by the pillars of Cultural Competence, Ethical Leadership, and Community Engagement. MSU currently enrolls approximately 20,000 undergraduate and 4,000 graduate students. The Psychology Program has 30 full-time faculty members, 60+ graduate students, and 900 undergraduate students.
Responsibilities
Primary teaching responsibilities will be courses in graduate-level advanced statistics and research design, and supervision of graduate student culminating experiences. Successful candidates may be able to fill other departmental teaching needs including courses in the undergraduate program and courses within the applicant’s area of expertise. The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to mentoring undergraduate and graduate student research and to the development of programmatic research in expertise area. Service is expected at university, college and departmental levels, and participation is expected in activities that contribute to the public affairs mission of the university.
Qualifications
Candidates must have a Doctoral degree in Experimental Psychology or related field. ABD will be considered with expected completion by start date. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
Salary and Benefits
Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Benefits available include health, vision, life, and dental insurance, and a retirement plan. Employees are entitled to a tuition waiver of up to 15 credits/year, which may be assigned to their dependents and/or spouse.
