Post doctoral fellow on NIH funded R01

Full time Clinical Health Disparities Postdoctoral Psychology

Job Description

I have a new NIH funded R01. We are seeking a fellow who will serve as an interventionist to learn to deliver emotion regulation therapy (ERT), as well as a study coordinator.  The clinical training and supervision in ERT will be facilitated by Co-I Douglas Mennin (Teacher's College-Columbia University) and me.  If the fellow is pre-licensure, we will also offer supervised hours that can be counted for licensure. Opportunities for research writing (grants & manuscripts) and other career development opportunities (e.g., mentored training grants such as K Award) can be considered.
Here's the essence of the advertisement that we are working up.  For now, would you direct this posting back to me?

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan is seeking one full-time postdoctoral scholar, for an in-person, full-time, 1-year position, with the possibility of extending into a 2nd year contingent on funding and scholars’ progress.  The scholar we seek will have a PhD in clinical psychology and will be mentored by Dr. David M. Fresco.

The postdoctoral scholar will primarily be involved in the treatment, assessment, and analyses of our NIH-funded clinical trial, evaluating the efficacy of Emotion Regulation Therapy to resolve the emotional distress caused by vision loss.  Additional responsibilities include assisting with existing data collection efforts for clinical trial research, lab-management, manuscript preparation, grant development, and opportunities to developing their own lines of inquiry (i.e., NIH K Award, etc.).

This position also provides specialized training in Emotion Regulation Therapy, with opportunities for supervised clinical hours towards licensure, as well as various departmental and university-wide professional development opportunities.

The position entails working within a large, multi-disciplinary team lead by Drs. K. Thiran Jayasundera (Ophthalmology/Kellogg Eye Center) and Fresco comprised of psychiatry and ophthalmology faculty, grad and undergrad students, post-docs, ophthalmologists, genetic counselors, and staff, to help the fellow build skills necessary for a successful research career. In particular, the fellow will play a crucial role in supporting vision patients enrolled in program studies, which may include conducting individual therapy sessions, administering standardized assessments, and closely collaborating with the research team.

A PhD in Clinical Psychology (APA- and/or PCSAS-accredited) is required. Experience with cognitive behavioral interventions is also required.
