Job Description

The first position is a tenure track 10-month Assistant Professor position with a focus on developmental psychology.  This position will also begin August 1, 2025. The successful candidate will teach General Psychology, Lifespan Development, and other courses in developmental psychology. The ability to teach courses in History and Systems of Psychology and/or the Psychology of Learning is strongly preferred. The ability to supervise undergraduate research is desirable, as is experience using teaching technologies. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester; establishing and maintaining an active, productive research program on a small liberal arts campus; engaging undergraduate students in research; contributing to the assessment of the psychology major and student learning outcomes; and engaging in campus initiatives to increase retention and enrollment, as well as being active in service to the department and engaging in service to the campus as a whole. Requirements include a doctoral degree in psychology or a closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered), teaching experience at the undergraduate college level, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in student-centered learning and collaboration. Preference will be given to candidates with an interest and/or experience in developing and teaching online and hybrid courses.

The second position is a 10-month, Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology position beginning August 1, 2025. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate psychology courses as well as courses in a hybrid (fifty percent online and fifty percent face to face) Masters in Mental Health Counseling program. Courses may include but are not limited to: foundations of mental health counseling, group counseling, career counseling, supervision, assessment, addictions, and special topics seminars. Candidates will also teach in our undergraduate psychology program, including courses in general psychology, abnormal psychology, helping skills and ethics, other courses in their area of expertise as well as supervising undergraduate practica. Experience supervising practica, using course management systems, and teaching online are highly desirable. Responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester which may include supervising practicum students, being active in service to the department and campus, and assessment of student learning outcomes in the undergraduate and graduate programs. This position is non-tenure track and does not have a research expectation as part of the job duties. A successful candidate is expected to work toward promotion by their sixth year by demonstrating their effectiveness in teaching. Requirements include a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology or a closely related field, face-to-face teaching experience at the undergraduate college level, a demonstrated commitment to excellence in student-centered learning and collaboration, as well as interest in or experience with developing and teaching online. Due to the supervision aspects of the graduate program a license to practice independently is required. Applicants must be licensed or license eligible in the state of Indiana. All licensure requirements must be met within 18 months of hire.
