Job Description

Starting date: September 1, 2018

Responsibilities: Teaching duties include teaching upper level psychology courses (e.g. Abnormal Psychology, Personality - Theory and Assessment; Health Psychology; and Psychological Testing and Measurement), and student academic advising. Duties might also include teaching Introductory Psychology as needed by the Program. Ability to initiate and coordinate community partnerships is desirable.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Psychology. Preference will be given to candidates with a documented record of excellence in teaching as well as applied experience in the field to inform their teaching.

Rank and Salary: This lecturer position is eligible for promotion without tenure. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

The Program: The Psychology Program in the College of Arts and Sciences consists of 5 full-time faculty and adjunct faculty. The Bachelor of Science in Psychology is the most popular major in the College of Arts and Sciences. Psychology faculty and majors are active in research. Majors also participate in study abroad and internships. The Psychology Program also participates in an interdisciplinary Animal Behavior major with the Biology Program.

The Department: The Department of Life Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences includes majors in Animal Behavior, Psychology, Biology, Environmental Sciences, and Marine Sciences. The Department of Life Sciences consists for 14 faculty members, a laboratory coordinator, and administrative and staff support.

The College: The College of Arts and Sciences includes the Department of Communication and Sociology; the Department of Life Sciences; the Department of Computational and Physical Sciences; the Department of Education; the Department of English and Modern Languages; the Department of History, Politics and Religion; and the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. The College offers a wide range of academic and interdisciplinary programs of study and serves as an integral component of the general education core requirements.
