The interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Butler University (Indianapolis, IN) invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position beginning August 2027. We seek a colleague who values interdisciplinary approaches to neuroscience, has a demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching practices, and is prepared to engage in collaborative research with undergraduate students. Standard teaching load is three courses (nine credit hours) of in-person instruction per semester plus an active program of research involving undergraduate collaborators.
Candidates must have a PhD by the time of appointment either in neuroscience or a closely related field. The successful applicant will be broadly trained in neuroscience and will be ready to teach core and discipline-specific neuroscience program courses, as well as majors’ and/or non-majors’ courses in one or more of the disciplines heavily represented in the neuroscience major: biology, computer science, philosophy and psychology. Our greatest needs are in biological and psychological approaches to neuroscience. About the Neuroscience Program: Our relatively new and rapidly growing interdisciplinary program is administered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Butler University. Despite only being in existence for three years, we are the fifth largest major in our college. Our required curriculum encompasses Biology, Psychology, Philosophy, Computer Science, Research Methods and Statistics, and Chemistry. Faculty involved in the program frequently co-teach or guest lecture in our neuroscience core courses.
