Position Summary

The Department of Psychology at Southern Oregon University (SOU) is seeking candidates for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor. The program is seeking an individual with a degree in general experimental psychology or behavioral neuroscience. Candidates must demonstrate the potential to develop and teach undergraduate courses in at least two of the following areas: cognition, psychopharmacology, behavioral neuroscience, sensation and perception, research methods and statistics. Applicants should provide documented evidence of scholarly activities and demonstrate a commitment to providing research experiences for undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications

• Initial appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor requires a terminal degree (or ABD) in Experimental Psychology or Neuroscience or closely related discipline.

• Prior evidence of college/university level teaching equivalent to one full year of teaching.

• Applicants should possess a record of excellence in communicating research findings as evidenced by conference presentations and journal publications and demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching and scholarship.

• Applicants should provide documented evidence of scholarly activities and demonstrate a strong commitment to providing research experiences for undergraduate students.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of teaching at the college/university level.

Physical Demands

Teaching, sitting, and working at a computer.
