Job Description

The Naturalistic Observation of Social Interaction Lab (Director: Matthias Mehl, Ph.D.) in the Psychology Department at the University of Arizona is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The full-time position is for 12 months (with the option to extend for another 12 months, pending the availability of funds).

Federal regulations require that the incumbent be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident to be ITAR/EAR compliant.

The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Dr. Mehl on an interdisciplinary research project on the objective, sensor-based assessment of individuals in daily contexts.

This postdoctoral fellowship will provide training at the intersection of personality/social psychology and research methods. Opportunities exist in a range of areas, including objective assessment of daily social behavior (using the Electronically Activated Recorder), ambulatory assessment (incl. experience sampling), linguistic analysis (computerized text analysis) and advanced statistical modeling (e.g., intensive longitudinal data). Responsibilities include the management of the interdisciplinary research project (project communication, app development, help with data collection and data management) as well as data analysis and preparing of publications.

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in advanced statistical modeling (e.g., multilevel modeling, intensive longitudinal data analysis), very good data management skills, very good familiarity with the software package R, research interests in ambulatory assessment, interests in open science, and excellent communication skills.
