The Psychology Department at Furman University announces an open-rank tenure track position to begin August 2019. We will give full consideration to new PhDs as well as experienced faculty. We seek a psychologist whose research area relates to diversity, broadly defined. Areas could include, but are not limited to, culture, gender, race and ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Candidates will be expected to teach research methods and statistics, general psychology, and courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, both survey and advanced. A PhD is required, and teaching experience is preferred. Candidates must be committed to exemplary teaching and maintaining a productive program of research. Candidates are also expected to become exceptional advisors and mentors to undergraduate students. The Psychology Department has outstanding teaching space and dedicated space for research. There is excellent university support for teaching, undergraduate research, and faculty scholarship through substantial start-up funds, internal grants, and administrative support for obtaining extramural funding. The psychology department’s research program supports approximately 24 research students each summer.

In addition to joining the Psychology Department, if desired, candidates may also contribute to the interdisciplinary Neuroscience program that is led by two psychologists and three biologists.
