The Department of Psychology in St. John’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at St. John’s University (New York) is seeking applicants for one full-time tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin in fall 2019.

Department of Psychology 

The Department of Psychology has 28 full-time faculty who serve a large Undergraduate Program and four graduate programs; Ph.D. Clinical, Psy.D School, MS School and MA General Psychology.  The faculty are gender balanced (15 women and 13 men) and diverse on many dimensions.  There are roughly 500 undergraduate majors and 160 graduate students active in the department each year.  For additional information please visit and the related links to our graduate programs on that page.



We are seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in Quantitative Psychology.  We offer 4 doctoral level courses in quantitative methods including psychometrics, and one masters level quantitative course.  The successful candidate would be expected to teach some of these courses and to provide expert quantitative and psychometric consultation to students and faculty.  Some undergraduate teaching can also be expected.  Although the primary responsibility of this position is serving the quantitative needs of the department, we generally expect that applicants will also have a substantive area of interest, which is open.  The successful applicant will also 1) involve undergraduate and graduate students in research, 2) mentor undergraduate research projects, Master’s theses and Doctoral dissertations, and 3) submit applications for external funding of research and/or teaching.



Qualifications include an earned doctorate in Psychology, ongoing program of research, commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and potential to attract external funding.
