Job Description

Stony Brook University seeks a full-time postdoctoral fellow to conduct research with Dr. Roman Kotov (Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology) and a diverse team of investigators. Duration and start time are negotiable.

We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow for a position on a research program with responders to the World Trade Center disaster. The program includes multiple studies that investigate (1) interplay between PTSD and medical conditions, (2) role of personality in mental and physical health outcomes, and (3) psychotherapy to improve these outcomes. These are longitudinal, multifaceted studies with sample sizes ranging from 450 to 10,000 patients. Extensive longitudinal data are already available on psychiatric symptoms, medical conditions, personality traits, life stress, real-world functioning, and biomarkers (e.g., inflammation, actigraphy). The fellow will work closely with advisory board to the program (Brent Roberts, Daniel Klein, Lee Anna Clark, Michael Bagby, Michael Zvolensky, Patricia Conrod, and Richard Zinbarg) in designing new studies.

The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for designing studies, supervising staff, conducting analyses, preparing manuscripts, and writing grants. Ongoing training will be available in statistical methods, grantsmanship, and substantive questions related to psychopathology, personality, and biomarkers. Clinical opportunities (e.g., psychotherapy with WTC responders) are also available, as well as supervision meeting licensure requirements.  Stony Brook University is a highly collaborative environment with close relationships between psychology, psychiatry, and medicine departments.

Qualifications include a 1) doctoral degree, 2) demonstrated expertise in psychopathology, as well as 3) a minimum of two first-authored publications. Familiarity with randomized clinical trials, diagnostic interviewing, and experience coordinating externally-funded studies are highly desired.

To apply, please email Roman Kotov (roman.kotov@stonybrook.edu) with your CV and contact information of three references. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
