Job Description

This is a full-time research assistant position in the deaf x lab at RIT/NTID. The position is for one year in the first instance, renewable for up to a total of 3 years subject to availability of funding. The successful applicant:

• Communicates clearly and effectively with young deaf adults and children who use a range of communication modes including American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, and spoken English.
• Administers clinical tests of language and cognition, ensuring that participants fully understand the instructions
• Meets regularly with research teams to discuss project progress and research findings
• Maintains accurate records of research activities, and ensures the quality of the data collected
• Assists other members of the research team with the collection of EEG data
• Collaborates on the writing of manuscripts for publication, and presents research findings at national and international conferences

The successful applicant will be required to work with undergraduate research assistants, and to make sure that data is appropriately stored and maintained on RIT servers in a manner compliant with the protocols approved by the IRB.


Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing data and helping to prepare manuscripts for publication
  • Presenting research findings at scholarly meetings and outreach events
  • Other responsibilities as determined by supervisor according to project needs
