The Association for Psychological Science (APS), a growing, DC-based scientific organization, seeks an eager, highly motivated individual for a Project Manager, Meetings position.

APS is dedicated to the advancement and representation of scientific psychology across the full range of research areas in this diverse field. APS has 35,000 members from around the world and includes the field’s leading scientists, academics, educators, and students. APS publishes 6 highly respected journals, hosts an annual US-based conference and a biannual international conference, and connects thousands of job seekers with opportunities in the field. About the Position

The Meetings Department oversees the APS Annual Convention (4,300+ attendees) and a biennial International Convention of Psychological Science (2,500+ attendees). The ideal candidate should be comfortable working on multiple projects at the same time and be able to problem-solve proactively while maintaining a keen eye for detail and organization. The Project Manager, Meetings will be expected to work independently on some projects and collaborate with colleagues on others. The Project Manager, Meetings is expected to be a team player, working collegially and collaboratively with the rest of the meetings team and with other departments.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the submissions, poster scheduling, and registration processes.
  • Managing the design and production of print materials such as signs, name badges, event tickets, etc.
  • Managing the development of a mobile app and online planner.
  • Managing logistics for certain events at the Convention and for in-house and other meetings taking place throughout the year.
  • Preparing and reviewing estimates and invoices as part of the budget process.
  • Responding to attendee questions via email and phone.
  • Collaborating to update the Convention website.


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-5 years of experience in meetings or events project management
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem resolution, and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience with project management, registration, mobile app, and/or submission software a plus
  • Experience working on scientific meetings a plus
