Job Description

Industrial Organizational Psychologist

The Department of Psychology at Penn State (https://psych.la.psu.edu/) is recruiting for a Psychologist to join our top-ranked and collegial industrial-organizational psychology program (https://psych.la.psu.edu/graduate/program-areas/industrial-organizational) in a tenure track position starting August 2020. Rank is open, but we will likely hire at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We are particularly interested in applicants who have expertise in traditional “I” topics including, but not limited to: individual and group differences, job analysis and competency modeling, employee selection (e.g., test development and validation; utility analysis; test fairness, bias and adverse impact), criterion development and performance management, and employee training and development. We especially welcome candidates who can contribute to one or more of the cross-cutting research themes in our department: Quantitative Methods, Applied/Translational Research, Context and Culture, Social Inequalities, and Neuroscience. Substantial opportunities exist for collaboration both within the department and across campus. The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D. in I-O psychology or a related field, is publishing in top I/O psychology journals, has an excellent teaching record, and has a history of (or clear potential for) external funding. Applicants who can contribute to an overarching department initiative to enhance diversity and our understanding of diversity are particularly encouraged to apply. Review of applications will begin September 1, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled. Candidates should submit a letter of application including concise statements of research and teaching interests, a CV, and selected (re)prints. Please arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent electronically to PsychApplications@psu.edu with the subject line of I/O Psych. Questions regarding the application process may be sent to Kelly Confer at kym3@psu.edu, and questions regarding the position may be sent to James LeBreton at james.lebreton@psu.edu
