Job Description

WILLIAMS COLLEGE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Cognitive Psychology, beginning July 1, 2020. The teaching load would likely consist of an introductory course in cognitive psychology, an upper-level research seminar in the candidate’s area of specialty with an accompanying laboratory, and the cognitive psychology section of a team-taught introductory psychology course. We provide mentoring in teaching and research for visiting faculty, as well as research facilities and support for conducting research with students. We are particularly interested in attracting and welcoming candidates from under-represented groups as well as individuals who have experience working with diverse undergraduate student populations. Qualifications

Your application should include a cover letter in which you speak to your ability to work effectively with an undergraduate student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion. Your application should also include a vita, three letters of reference, and three writing samples (articles). Please include a research statement that includes a description of how undergraduates will be included in your research program. Finally, please submit a teaching statement that includes a description of your pedagogical approach, evidence of teaching effectiveness (i.e., course evaluations), and a brief description of the course you would like to teach as an upper-level research seminar. Review of applications will begin on February 5 and will continue on a rolling basis. Preliminary interviews will be held via Skype, followed by an on-campus interview.
