Job Description

Pittsburg State University seeks a broadly-trained, experimental psychologist, committed to undergraduate teaching for a full-time, tenure-earning assistant professor position in Psychology (http://www.pittstate.edu/psych). This position begins on August 14, 2020, and will include undergraduate teaching and advising in a combined Psychology and Counseling Department. Area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with teaching interest or experience in human or animal learning. Teaching load will consist primarily of undergraduate courses [such as elementary statistics, research methods, learning at the graduate and undergraduate levels, physiological psychology, and evolutionary psychology], and courses within the candidate’s area of specialization. Doctorate in Psychology required (A.B.D. considered, if degree is to be received by 9/1/20. College teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising excellence are preferred. Salary will be from a base of $50,000 for nine months. The Department of Psychology and Counseling serves nearly 300 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate majors in general, clinical, and school psychology, and school counseling (M.S. or Ed.S). The main emphasis of the Department is excellence in teaching. Scholarly activity and service are required. PSU is a comprehensive regional university with an enrollment of nearly 6,500.
