Job Description

The Panizzon Lab within the Department of Psychiatry at U.C. San Diego seeks applicants for multiple postdoctoral researcher positions.  The focus of the laboratory is on the interface of neuroendocrinology and genetics in understanding cognitive and brain aging, as well as the development and progression of Alzheimer’s disease.  Significant efforts are also dedicated to exploring sex differences in cognitive and brain aging from a neuroendocrine perspective.

The successful applicant will participate in data collection and analysis of two NIA funded projects on the impact of sex hormone suppression on the brain and cognition.  There will also be the opportunity to work on secondary data analysis projects utilizing publically available datasets like the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI), UK Biobank, the Vietnam Era Twin Study of Aging, and the Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer’s Prevention.  The successful applicant will participate in the writing and preparation of manuscripts, presentations for scientific meetings, and grant proposals.  The applicant is also expected to work with the PI to develop his/her own research program and grant proposals. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in at least one of the following areas:  cognitive aging, Alzheimer’s disease, neuroendocrinology, neuroimaging, sex differences, or quantitative genetics.
