Hillsdale College is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology. Desirous of bringing modern psychology increasingly into conversation with the philosophical and theological tradition of the West, the college and its Department of Psychology are interested in persons who are not just competent researchers and/or therapists, but who are passionate about high liberal learning, intellectual history, and cultivating the life of the mind with students in a conservative and Christian context. Candidates who share these interests and yet have demonstrable experience with modern psychology’s framework, methods, and findings are encouraged to apply. While candidates must hold a Ph.D. or ABD status, the department will consider applications from candidates in areas outside of psychology—e.g., philosophy, theology—provided they have training in psychology at least at the master’s level.
Teaching responsibilities are expected to include introductory psychology, as well as cognitive, developmental, and/or biological psychology, and special topics consistent with the candidate’s interest areas. Experience or openness to teaching statistics and/or research design is also desired. While teaching takes precedence in the department and at the college, the selected candidate will be encouraged and supported in the scholarly activities they wish to undertake.
Complete applications will include the following:
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis and accepted until December 1, 2021.
