About APS:

APS is the leading international organization dedicated to advancing scientific psychology across disciplinary and geographic borders. Our members provide a richer understanding of the world through their research, teaching, and application of psychological science. About the internship:

The APS Government Relations team protects and promotes psychological science through advocacy to US federal agencies and Congress; it advances the full spectrum of the behavioral sciences across geographic and political borders. The Government Relations Intern (Intern) will report to the Director of Government Relations. The Intern will assist the team with daily, mid-term, and long-term tasks in support of the team mission. The main functions of the intern position include tracking and monitoring for funding opportunities and policy developments of interest to psychological scientists and writing summaries of these news items for the psychological science community. The intern may also assist with the upkeep of the Federal Funding & Policy page on the APS website and enhancing the team’s awareness of developments in global psychological science. Interns will also assist other members of the Government Relations team, or other APS staff members more widely, with other projects or responsibilities as assigned.

Hours per week: 12.0; Tues. and Weds. 10:00 AM–5:00 PM ET, excluding lunch hour

Stipend: $182.40 weekly, for 15 weeks; $2,736.00 total for 15-week period

Skills and abilities requested for this position:

  • A willingness in and enthusiasm for learning about psychological science topics
  • Very strong writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet short deadlines
  • Interest in working in a remote environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • General comfort with technology and working on the web; experience with WordPress or other content management systems preferred

The APS Government Relations Intern is a remote opportunity. Interns will need to have access to a computer, webcam, and a reliable internet connection to participate.

The weekly hours and schedule for the APS Government Relations Intern are negotiable and dependent on mutual agreement. APS is an equal opportunity employer.
