Stony Brook University seeks a full-time postdoctoral fellow to conduct research with Drs. Roman Kotov (Psychiatry), Daniel Klein (Psychology), and Brady Nelson (Psychology). Duration and start time are negotiable.
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to collaborate on the Adolescent Development of Emotions and Personality Traits (ADEPT) project, a longitudinal investigation of a cohort of 550 early adolescent girls who are currently being followed-up for the 7th wave at age 26. This will enable us to model trajectories of internalizing and externalizing psychopathology and related mechanisms across 12 years of development. Extensive longitudinal data are already available on the first-onsets and course of various disorders, and a broad range of symptoms, personality traits, stressors, neural processes (ERP and MRI), and other biomarkers (polygenic risk scores, gene expression, and inflammation). Moreover, video recordings of participants have been collected at each wave enabling innovative AI modeling of language, speech, and facial expressions.
The fellow will primarily be responsible for conducting analyses, preparing manuscripts, writing grants and supervising staff. Ongoing training will be available in statistical methods, grantsmanship, and substantive questions related to psychopathology, personality, and biological mechanisms. Clinical opportunities (e.g., conducting diagnostic interviews) are also available, as well as supervision meeting licensure requirements. Stony Brook University is a highly collaborative environment with close relationships between the psychology, psychiatry, computer science, and applied math departments. Salary is competitive with fellowships in the New York City region.
Qualifications include 1) a doctoral degree, 2) demonstrated expertise in advanced multivariate statistics and in psychopathology, as well as 3) a minimum of two first-authored publications.
Familiarity with diagnostic interviewing, biological (neural or genetic) or behavioral (language, speech, or face) data, and experience coordinating externally-funded studies are highly desirable.
To apply, please email Roman Kotov ([email protected]) with your CV and contact information of three references. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
