Faculty Position - Department of Psychology and Biobehavioral Sciences

  • St Jude Children's Research Hospital
  • Memphis, TN, USA
Full time Faculty Development

Job Description

The Department of Psychology and Biobehavioral Sciences at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is expanding its efforts to enhance cognitive and behavioral health outcomes in children with catastrophic illnesses. As part of this expansion, we are recruiting new faculty for clinical, clinician-scientist and research track positions at the Assistant, Associate or Full Member (a.k.a Professor) level. We are seeking outstanding candidates with expertise and interest in child development, pediatric health psychology, biological psychology, neuropsychology or cognitive neuroscience. All positions are institutionally-funded faculty positions within the Department and are expected to engage in clinical-research and educational efforts of the Department.

The Department currently includes 18 faculty, as well as numerous postdoctoral research fellows, clinical-research fellows, clinical interns, graduate students from the St. Jude Graduate School for Biomedical Sciences and other surrounding institutions, and staff scientists and clinical-research associates.

St. Jude is a research hospital focused on advancing cures and means of prevention of catastrophic illnesses of childhood, including cancer, hematologic disorders, infectious disorders, and neurological disorders.  Many of our programs involve lifespan approaches, following children from diagnosis well into adulthood. The Department also works with the St. Jude Global program, whose mission is to advance cures and means of prevention of illness in low- and middle-income countries around the world.

St. Jude is an internationally recognized leader in research for children with catastrophic disease.  It has been consistently rated as one of the 100 best workplaces in the U.S. by Fortune magazine, was recently voted the number one place to work in academia by The Scientist magazine.  It is consistently rated as one of the top children’s hospitals for pediatric cancer by U.S. News and World Report.

Candidates must have a PhD in psychology, behavioral science or neuroscience. Clinical and clinician-scientist track positions require a degree in clinical psychology from an APA-approved program with a doctoral internship (APA- or CPA-approved), postdoctoral training in pediatric psychology or neuropsychology, and eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist with Health Service Provider designation in the State of Tennessee. Research track positions do not require licensure or engage in clinical service, though they do require a doctoral degree with postdoctoral research training. Note: international applicants to the Research track positions are welcome. Salary and benefit packages are highly competitive and commensurate with experience.  Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.

Interested candidates should submit a current CV, cover letter with statement of interests, and the names of three professional references directly online.
