The Faculty of Social Science and Humanities at Ontario Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The starting date for the position is July 1, 2023.
The new psychology program at Ontario Tech University includes specializations in Developmental Psychological Science and Affective Science and Mental Health. Applicants with research expertise that connects with these broad areas of specialization may be prioritized. Of particular interest are applicants with research programs that focus on topics within Cognitive Development (broadly construed across the lifespan), including but not limited to: attention, memory, language, or executive functions, in typical or atypical populations.
The Faculty of Social Science and Humanities is situated at Ontario Tech’s downtown Oshawa location. Classrooms and laboratory facilities are new and spacious. Mental health facilities, hospitals, addiction centres, and additional municipal agencies are all in close proximity to campus. The Faculty has Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science programs in Psychology and Forensic Psychology, as well as Masters and Doctoral programs in Forensic Psychology. The University is strong in both research and teaching, with state-of-the-art research labs, teaching spaces, and internationally renowned faculty.
Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Psychology, or a closely related field, and to show a record of excellence, or the potential for excellence, in both research (e.g. contributions in highly-ranked journals, conference presentations) and teaching (e.g. previous teaching reviews, a strong teaching philosophy, experience or plans for teaching to a diverse student body).
The successful candidate will be expected to conduct outstanding, innovative, and independent research, to establish a competitive and externally funded research program, and to undertake high-quality supervision and teaching of students and trainees. As a burgeoning program, Psychology at Ontario Tech is experiencing rapid development; the successful applicant will also be expected to contribute actively to that growth.
The position will entail a 40% research, 40% teaching, and 20% service workload. The position remains pending budgetary approval.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
