Position Summary

The Department of Psychology at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science invites applications for a full-time Research Data Management Specialist position in Dr. Brian Feinstein’s lab. The overarching goals of Dr. Feinstein’s lab are: (1) to advance research on the role of stigma-related stress in the development and maintenance of mental and behavioral health problems among sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations across the lifespan; and (2) to develop and test interventions to improve SGM health. The Research Data Management Specialist will contribute to an NIMH-funded study examining the longitudinal and daily associations among sexual orientation-related rejection, rejection sensitivity, and mental health in a diverse cohort of sexual minority adolescents. The Research Data Management Specialist will oversee the development of data collection tools (e.g., programming surveys) and the construction and maintenance of databases, including checking and cleaning data, writing syntax (e.g., for scoring measures), assisting with data analysis, preparing and submitting data to the NIMH Data Archive, and facilitating data sharing agreements. If desired, there will be opportunities to contribute to conference presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

Start date: Flexible; June or July 2023 preferred

Term: 2 years, pending successful performance in Year 1 (with the possibility of extending the position beyond 2 years)

Location: On-site preferred; remote will be considered

Salary:  $23.46 an hour ($45,760 annually)

Conditions of Employment

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in social/behavioral/health sciences or a related field (e.g., psychology, public health, epidemiology, data science)
  • Experience conducting social/behavioral/health sciences research
  • Experience with programming surveys
  • Experience with data management and analysis

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to program surveys
  • Ability to process (e.g., clean, score) data
  • Ability to analyze quantitative data
  • Proficiency in the use of SPSS and R
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including time management
  • Strong leadership and management skills 
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with sexual and gender minority populations
  • Experience managing complex (e.g., longitudinal) data
  • Experience in the use of other statistical software (e.g., Mplus)
  • Experience with computer programming (e.g., Java)
  • Experience using mobile data collection software (e.g., MetricWire)
