The Department of Psychology at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full time, 9-month, recurring appointment Open Rank Lecturer II or III, to begin August 1, 2023. The department seeks to hire a psychology instructor who can contribute broadly to its teaching mission by offering a range of undergraduate courses in psychology (e.g., introductory psychology, psychology research techniques, statistics, developmental psychology, social psychology, health psychology, cognitive psychology and upper level electives, etc.) both in face-to-face and online modalities.
Lecturers are expected to teach four courses each spring and fall semester. Lecturers are also expected to engage in teaching-related service (e.g., departmental committee membership), professional development, or other departmental activities. Additional scholarly activities may include mentoring undergraduate students, developing new courses, or otherwise furthering the department's teaching mission. Lecturers undergo performance reviews annually.
1. M.A. (Lecturer II) or Ph.D. (Lecturer III) in Psychology or closely related field (completed by August 1, 2023).
2. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level either in face-to-face or online modalities.
1. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching a range of different undergraduate courses in psychology in both face-to-face and online modalities.
2. Teaching experience with any of the undergraduate courses of greatest need to the Department of Psychology at the University of New Mexico (e.g., introductory psychology, psychology research techniques, statistics, developmental, social, health, and cognitive psychology, and various upper level psychology electives) in either the online or face-to-face modality.
3. Demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success in courses taught, as well as experience working with broadly diverse communities.
4. Teaching experience at a four-year undergraduate institution.
