The Department of Psychology at New Mexico State University invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Cognitive Psychology, starting in Fall 2024 (Job #: 498461). NMSU is the nation’s only Land Grant institution that is also classified as both a Hispanic Serving Institution and a Carnegie High Research Activity Institution. We are looking for a candidate whose research interests fall within the domain of Cognitive Psychology, broadly construed, who can work with graduate students who aspire to career tracks both within and outside of academia. Minimal qualifications: A Ph.D. in Psychology (in hand by hire date). Preferred qualifications: Ability to contribute to teaching courses on Cognitive Psychology and closely related areas including, but not limited to Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience. Ability to contribute to graduate quantitative curriculum (statistics, modeling of psychological processes, AI etc.). Strong potential to compete for external funding to support research and make a significant impact in their specialty area. Demonstrated potential for creative cross-disciplinary collaboration within and across departments. Our faculty and graduate students have active research interests in social, cognitive, and applied areas of psychology. The successful candidate will value collegiality and service to their department/institution and will have the demonstrated capability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the department’s curriculum, and will serve as a research mentor to undergraduate and graduate students.
