The Department of Psychology at San José State University (SJSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Clinical Psychology. Key focus areas in our department include community mental health, child/adolescent and family-focused services, real world application of evidence-based practices, and clinical work within multicultural and urban environments. The vision of the Psychology Department is to provide high-quality education in psychology that fosters the development of students so that they will make worthy contributions to society. We value a student-centered approach that emphasizes teaching, research, and applied training. The Department offers a BA in Psychology, MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling, MS Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and MA in Research and Experimental Psychology. Required Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited university, with training as a clinical scientist or scientist-practitioner, by August 2024
• Either a licensed psychologist or license-eligible in California by the position start date, with the expectation of licensure within 2-3 years of hire (details on California licensure available at psychology.ca.gov).
• Demonstrated scholarly productivity in the area of clinical psychology.
• Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence at the undergraduate level and within the MS Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program, which trains mental health practitioners to provide evidence-based services in community mental health and/or school-based settings.
• Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and provide clinical supervision to undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Priority will be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following:

• Ability to work effectively in a collegial atmosphere of shared governance.
• Commitment to seeking external funding to support research-related activities and/or to enhance student learning.
