The Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of cognitive science. This appointment will focus on “Quantifying and Predicting Patterns in Human Behavior through Advanced Quantitative Methods”. We are seeking candidates using advanced quantitative methods to predict human behavior. Such methods may include but are not limited to: artificial intelligence, machine learning, neural networks, dynamical systems, and comparably rigorous approaches. We are particularly interested in a scholar whose work lends itself to novel collaborative initiatives within the Cognitive Science area, across other areas within the department (clinical, integrative neuroscience, social & health), and/or across other departments/schools (e.g., computer science, neurobiology & behavior, psychiatry, linguistics). Preference will be given to applicants who have a record of strong quantitative research, and evidence of or potential for funding. The applicant will be able to teach and mentor cognitive science students at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The Psychology Department at Stony Brook University encompasses doctoral programs in Clinical Psychology, Cognitive Science, Integrative Neuroscience, and Social and Health Psychology. Available resources relevant to the position include the Stony Brook University Institute for Advanced Computational Science (IACS), the Institute for AI-Driven Discovery and Innovation, and the Institute for Engineering-Driven Medicine.
A PhD degree in Psychology or closely related fields.
A record of publication(s) relevant to the application and development of quantitative methods to the study of human behavior.
Evidence of funding or potential for funding.
Teaching experience (such as TAship, lecturer, adjunct) at the undergraduate level, preferably related to neuroscience.
