Assistant Professor, Clinical Psychology

The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Fairfield University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in Clinical Psychology beginning Fall 2024 pending final budgetary approval. The specialty within clinical psychology is open, but candidates with a background in clinical neuropsychology or clinical forensic psychology are especially encouraged to apply.

Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, and they must demonstrate the potential for developing an active research program that involves undergraduates. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses each semester. Courses taught would include Psychopathology & Clinical Science, Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences or Research Methods, and courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.

Requirements: Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program, but ABD candidates who expect their degrees by Fall 2024 will also be considered.

Additional Information: The department consists of twelve full-time faculty representing a range of specialties and is housed in a spacious, well-equipped facility in the Bannow Science Center. There is a vibrant culture of undergraduate student-faculty research that is supported by departmental and university resources (e.g., student subject pool, student research grant programs), and a growing institutional emphasis on the health sciences. Psychology is one of the largest majors in the College of Arts & Sciences, offering a Psychology Club, a large internship program, and chapters of Sigma Xi and Psi Chi. The Department also offers a major in behavioral neuroscience and a master’s program in industrial/organizational psychology. The minimum starting salary for those with a Ph.D. at the time of appointment is $94,074, and the benefits for the position are highly competitive.
