The Department of Psychology at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities announces a search for an outstanding scholar to fill an endowed chair, the Starke Hathaway Endowed Associate Professorship in Clinical Psychology. This full-time tenured Associate Professor position in the Department’s Clinical Science and Psychopathology Research (CSPR) Training Program will begin in Fall 2024. The CSPR training program is nationally ranked and accredited by the American Psychological Association and by the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS).

The appointment will be 100% time over the nine-month academic year (late-August to late-May) and will be made at the rank of tenured associate professor. Salary and start-up packages are competitive.

Required Qualifications: Terminal degree in Psychology or related field with research expertise in etiology, assessment, or classification of psychopathology that elucidate psychological, social, biological, or other causal mechanisms of psychopathology. Able to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in this area of research.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in teaching other substantive courses related to the candidate’s expertise and departmental needs.

Competitive applicants will have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and an independent program of research that is nationally or internationally recognized. The candidate’s areas of research might include, but are not limited to, the etiology, assessment, or classification of psychopathology with the objective of elucidating major psychological, social, biological or other causal mechanisms of psychopathology. Behavioral genetic, molecular genetic, psychophysiological, and neuroimaging approaches represent current areas of strength that we would be pleased to expand. We value approaches that utilize these methods to investigate mental health impacts of stressors such as inequity and prejudice.

The successful applicant should have and is expected to maintain a strong research program, advise graduate students, and teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including core courses within the graduate training program. Excellence in teaching is strongly desired. The individual will also be expected to contribute to the service needs of the department, college, university, and profession and to eventually play a leadership role in the CSPR program.

A successful candidate's dossier will demonstrate scholarly distinction, a record of publications, teaching commitment and, if applicable to the research program and the candidate’s career stage, evidence of success in securing extramural funding.
