About the Department

Our Department of Psychology is a vibrant academic community that boasts a diverse and accomplished faculty. Currently, we have 11 tenured/tenure-track faculty members and 1 teaching-track faculty member from a wide range of specialties within the field of psychology.

Psychology holds a prominent place at Siena College and is one of our most sought-after majors, attracting over 300 majors and 60 minors. Notably, our program extends beyond psychology students, as we welcome students from various disciplines, including Health Studies, Nursing, Business, Social Work, and Criminal Justice, who actively participate in our courses and programs. Within the Department, we foster an engaged community, with several initiatives: Psychology Club; Psi Chi Chapter; Internship Program; Undergraduate Research. Furthermore, our Department is continually evolving. We have recently introduced a Behavioral Neuroscience minor and a School Psychology Concentration. Job Description:

The Department of Psychology at Siena College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor position in Social Psychology to begin in the Fall semester of the 2024-2025 academic year.

The teaching load is 3 courses each semester. Qualified applicants should be prepared to teach Social Psychology, Research Methods, and upper-level courses in their area of expertise (e.g., Psych and Law; Psych and the Workplace). Ability to teach introductory courses for the major such as General Psychology and Statistics for Social Sciences is also highly desirable. Successful candidates should have a passion for undergraduate teaching, recognize the value of a dynamic and highly interactive student/faculty environment, and be committed to involving students in an active research program (lab space and start-up will be provided). Other responsibilities will include advising students in the major and engaging in service at the department, college, and community level.

Annual Salary: $75,890.00 with a terminal degree

Job Requirements:

Candidates should have a background in Social Psychology or Industrial/Organizational Psychology, preferably with expertise in the workplace and/or law; however, we are open to considering candidates with expertise in different areas. To qualify for the position, candidates must complete their PhD by September 1, 2024.
