The Psychology Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology. The appointment will start August 20, 2018.
We are seeking a teacher/scholar who is committed to effective pedagogy and who possesses the interest and ability to establish an active high quality research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students. Required qualifications include experience in conducting empirical research in industrial/organizational psychology or highly related fields, and a commitment to working with diverse populations and fostering diversity across campus. The successful candidate will have completed a doctoral degree in Psychology with a specialty in Industrial/Organizational Psychology or highly related field from an accredited institution by the start date of appointment.
The area of research specialty is open. To complement current faculty in the department and within the I/O track of the graduate program, it is preferred that applicants have research experience which might include, but are not limited to: attitude theory, measurement, and change; occupational health and well-being; and job evaluation and compensation. Research interests that address changes in the workplace (e.g., globalization, diversity, technology, aging workforce, etc.) are preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching a diverse student body at the collegiate level, a strong quantitative background and the ability to teach graduate level statistics courses, and experience in conducting applied I/O projects.
The successful candidate will be expected to: (1) teach courses (e.g., I/O Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Performance Evaluation and Management, Training and Development, Organizational Systems and Development, Statistics, Research Methods) in the department's undergraduate and graduate programs; (2) actively engage in research with undergraduate and graduate students; (3) contribute to our Industrial/Organizational track within the Master’s program, including supervision of graduate students’ research projects; (4) advise undergraduate and graduate students; and 5) participate in departmental and university service.
