The Psychology Department at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology beginning July 1, 2020. This appointment is for a two-year term with a possible one-year renewal, and is a full-time position with benefits. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in psychology with research and/or teaching experience in the cognitive domain. The candidate will be expected to teach courses in cognitive psychology and additional courses as needed by the department including research courses. This position carries a teaching load of three courses per semester, and active learning is encouraged. As part of the natural sciences and mathematics division, the Psychology Department values research engagement. While not required, scholarly activity by the candidate and mentoring students on research projects will be encouraged and supported. Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements: Ph.D. in psychology in hand by July 1, 2020, evidence of scholarly promise and accomplishment, and an excellent record of teaching at the undergraduate level. Applicants must also demonstrate a clear understanding of teaching in a liberal arts institution and a commitment to preparing students for leadership opportunities in a broadly diverse, global society.
