The Monell Chemical Senses Center is a nonprofit, basic research institute dedicated to the study of taste, smell, chemesthesis, and appetite. Founded in 1968, the Center is located near the campuses of the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University in Philadelphia. Research focuses on understanding how the chemical senses function and their importance in everyday life. Dr. Carol M. Christensen, Alumnus Member and Consultant to the Director at Monell, has endowed a full-time postdoctoral position in human chemosensory science (human neuroscience, learning, emotion, decision-making, as well as other human-based research in taste and smell). We are seeking a research project coordinator for an NIH-funded R01 project supervised by Drs. Renee Thompson and Tammy English (MPIs) and Todd Braver (Co-I) in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis. The project (R01AG070139) examines the role of motivation and depressive psychopathology in age-related changes in emotion and emotion regulation across adulthood. It utilizes a multi-method approach that includes experience sampling, clinical interviews, behavioral measures, peripheral psychophysiological assessment, neuroimaging, and blood-based biomarkers of Alzheimer’s Disease risk.
