The University of Minnesota Morris (UMM) seeks to fill an Assistant Professor tenure-track position in Biological Psychology. We are looking for someone to teach an annual course load of 20 credits (typically 5 classes), which will include the following courses: Biological Psychology, Capstone Seminar in Biological Psychology, and other courses consistent with the candidate’s expertise. Additionally, we are seeking a person who will fit with the needs of the department, which could include teaching Introductory Psychology, Research Methods, Comparative Psychology, and other courses to be negotiated. Other responsibilities include supervising individual student projects, advising undergraduates, and providing service to the psychology discipline and to the campus. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an interest in the liberal arts and will engage with our students inside and outside of the classroom. UMM emphasizes close student-faculty relationships and faculty-directed student research. An active research program is expected, and research collaboration with undergraduate students is highly valued. In terms of research facilities, there is a suite of rooms designed for human behavioral and psychophysiological research. The animal facility has several colony rooms that can house up to 200 rats or 450 mice as well as other small mammals, and behavioral testing equipment for rats and mice. Those rooms are connected to the wet lab; major lab equipment includes a laminar flow hood and ELISA plate reader. Position begins August 17, 2020. Salary and teaching load is competitive. Prefer Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related field (appointment as Assistant Professor), but will consider outstanding ABD (appointment as Instructor).
