Assistant Professor, 1-Year Visiting Position
  The Department of Psychology at The College of Wooster invites applications for a one-year visiting position in Psychology at the level of Assistant Professor, beginning in August 2020. The successful applicant will teach courses in their area of interest; we are open to all areas but are particularly interested in someone with interests in experimental or cognitive neuroscience. We are especially interested in hiring faculty who can contribute to the intellectual vibrancy and diversity of the academic community through their teaching, research, and service. The College of Wooster enrolls a diverse student body (21% domestic students of color and 15% international students); all applicants are expected to discuss their experience working with diverse student populations.  The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability to teach courses and advise research projects in diverse areas of Psychology. They will teach the equivalent of 6 courses, including courses in their area of interest and credited supervision of independent thesis projects as part of the College’s Independent Study program. Ph.D. by appointment date and experience mentoring undergraduates are preferred. A commitment to undergraduate teaching is necessary. Applicants should submit a letter of application; curriculum vitae; unofficial graduate transcripts; evidence of strong teaching (such as teaching philosophy, syllabi and student evaluations, if applicable) and research (such as research statement and writing sample of 25 pages or less); a statement detailing how the applicant has engaged and/or expects to engage with issues of diversity and inclusion in the classroom and the curriculum, as well as on campus and in the broader community; and three reference letters through Interfolio. Mental Health Counselor
Central Ohio Technical College and The Ohio State University at Newark are accepting online applications for a full-time (10-month), Mental Health Counselor position. Summary of Duties: Seeking a dynamic professional, who will enhance the diversity of our staff with well-developed therapy skills, a strong interest in carrying a diverse clinical caseload, and who is attentive to the unique challenges associated with systematic forms of oppression such as racism, homophobia, etc. This professional will: provide evidence-based individual assessment and determine students’ psychological diagnoses; provide brief individual and potentially couples and group therapy to students at all campuses of Central Ohio Technical College and The Ohio State University at Newark; handle crisis intervention and provide referrals in partnership with Public Safety (as appropriate) and local resources; manage and plan counseling services, which entails dealing with diverse student needs; provide verification of diagnosis to the Office of Disability Services for accommodations for students; provide for students, faculty & staff training and preventative and educational outreach sessions that are culturally sensitive regarding mental health issues; advise student organizations on request; work collaboratively with other academic and student support units on campus; establish positive working relationships with community and campus resources to maintain a referral network. Qualifications: Master’s degree in counseling or social work. LPCC or LISW licensure; experience with PTSD , PDD , LD, and ADHD ; outpatient experience in a brief treatment model working with emerging adults; experience providing culturally informed clinical services to diverse and underrepresented populations, including students of color, international students, and LGBTQIA+ students; and a demonstrated high level of cultural competence and desire to work with under-served and underrepresented student populations. Requires successful completion of a background check. Preferred Qualifications: PhD/PsyD psychologist; 7 or more years of field experience; higher education experience; and LICDC . Additional Details:  This is a 10-month position paid over 12 months, with a working period of August-May, and a non-working period of June-July.
