Primal world beliefs (‘primals’) are beliefs about the basic character of the world, such as the world is dangerous or the world is abundant . Historically, only one primal has been widely studied—belief in a just world—and it is thought to have a cascading influence across personality and well-being variables because it informs the interpretation of ambiguity, leading in this case to increased productivity, prosociality, and well-being.
