The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Moffitt Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, is seeking a faculty member in the tenure-earning rank of Assistant/Associate Member with preference for strong expertise in behavioral statistics. Moffitt is affiliated with the University of South Florida and a University appointment is available in the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor as applicable. Methodological research is also expected. The Department currently has 18 faculty and approximately 27 staff engaged in a wide range of statistical and bioinformatics research and collaborations on clinical, biological, and behavioral studies in cancer and cancer prevention including novel therapeutic and drug discoveries, prognostic and predictive biomarker developments, chemoprevention, high throughput genomics, proteomics, epidemiological studies, health outcomes and behavioral research, comparative effectiveness research, clinical trial designs, and personalized medicine studies. Many of these projects draw upon Moffitt’s Total Cancer Care initiative, which provides access to a comprehensive set of clinical and molecular data on a large number of cancer patients. The Ideal Candidate: • We seek candidates with experience and expertise in behavioral statistics who can contribute to the many current health outcomes and behavioral studies at Moffitt, as evidenced by a history of peer-reviewed publications and involvement in grant supported research projects. A postdoctoral position is available at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Université Laval, Quebec City, Canada, under the supervision of Dr. Sébastien Tremblay, full professor at the School of Psychology. Sebastien Tremblay is the director of the Co-DOT lab ( www.co-dot.ulaval.ca ), a research laboratory specialized in applied cognitive psychology and human performance. This is a full-time position for 2 years (extensible) related to the human-technologies interaction. Recent advances in computer engineering, machine learning and artificial intelligence lead toward a world within which humans and automatic systems are required to coexist, cooperate and share a common environment or via augmented and virtual reality. As part of this research project, the selected candidate will work at developing mixed initiative systems in which both human and machine share tasks and decisions depending on their state and that of the environment. For instance, the candidate will be asked to build a model predicting the cognitive and affective state of the user from behavioral and physiological measures. This project will be carried out in a multidisciplinary context, comprising experts from several domains such as human factors, robotics, machine learning, virtual and augmented reality, and automatic computerized systems.
