The Mind and Society Center ( http://dornsife.usc.edu/mindandsociety ) co-directed by Professor Daphna Oyserman, at the University of Southern California, is seeking applications for a 2-year Post-Doctoral Research Associate beginning as soon as possible (two year postdoc broken into two one year segments, with opportunity for renewal at one year mark assuming excellent performance and availability of funding).  Position Description: The postdoc will work closely with Dr. Oyserman on projects funded by IES (Institute for Educational Studies) and EIR ( Education Innovation and Research), examining the consequences of an intervention to improve students identity- based motivation on their academic performance as part of the Pathways-to-Success program. The post is based in the Music and Neuroscience lab (headed by Jessica Grahn). The lab explores the links between music, rhythm, and movement using neuroscientific methods and various populations (e.g., healthy adults, neurological patient populations, non-human animals). The lab is committed to best practices in Equity and Diversity. The post-holder will play a key role in neuroimaging and possibly neuropsychological patient investigations of rhythm, timing, and music. A background in cognitive neuroscience or experimental psychology and expertise in fMRI, EEG, TMS/tDCS/tACS, or neuropsychological patient testing is preferred, but not required.
