The Social Action Lab and Health and Social Media Group at the University of Pennssylvania as of July 1 have openings for postdoctoral researchers to conduct basic and applied work on attitudes and persuasion, with particular attention to HIV, health, and science communication (i.e., health behavior, climate change). The ideal candidate will have expertise in advanced quantitative methods, outstanding organizational skills, an interest in a structured collaboration that follows NIH milestones, and the ability to write research papers and reports. Social media, survey research, and experimental methods are highly relevant to this position, so applicants should be well versed in at least one of these approaches. A Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, communication, informatics, sociology, computer science) is required. The Visual Cognition Lab (https://visualcognitionlab.com/) is hiring a postdoc(2-3 years) with strong quantitative skills to work with Dr. Heather Sheridan at the University at Albany, SUNY, on an NIMH-funded project in collaboration with Columbia University (1R01 MH121449-01A1: Neural Mechanisms of Reading Dysfunction in Schizophrenia). The successful candidate will use computational modeling to study the cognitive and neural mechanisms underlying reading fluency impairments in Schizophrenia, as well as the link between literacy skills and functional outcomes. The candidate will also have the opportunity to combine their modeling work with empirical projects that integrate eye tracking methodology with both neurophysiological (EEG/ERPs) and fMRI-based studies of individual differences during reading.  The start date of the position is flexible and could be anytime during the summer or fall of 2021.
