Assistant Professor in Neuroscience, Tenure Track
The Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in neuroscience to begin Fall, 2020. The ideal candidate would have a research program in cognitive neuroscience, conducting research using human subjects and/or animal models, but any strong neuroscientist will be fully considered. Candidates should have a strong basic or translational neuroscience research background.  The successful applicant would be expected to add to the university’s growing neuroscience strength by mentoring and teaching graduate and undergraduate students, as well as contributing to planned expansions of the neuroscience curriculum across campus. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field, with significant postdoctoral experience. Candidates must display evidence of strong scholarly work, and existing or potential for extramural funding. Further, we are seeking an individual who is committed to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive. The Department offers a B.A. in psychology.  The Department has 30 full-time faculty members with an APA-accredited clinical Ph.D. program and an experimental Ph.D. program with cognitive, developmental, neuroscience, and quantitative/experimental areas of study (https://www.unlv.edu/psychology/graduateprograms/phd-experimental-faculty).   Salary is competitive, and the position is contingent upon funding. Job Description: Primary responsibilities include: (1) data acquisition using behavioral, psychophysiological, and brain imaging techniques (2) subject recruitment and screening; (3) management and analysis of datasets; and (4) managing the lab and performing administrative duties, including IRB documentation. Education and Experience Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, cognitive science, computer science, neuroscience or related field is required. 1-2 years of related research experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered). Post-Doctoral Research Associate
The Social & Affective Neuroscience Lab at Brown University (Lab Director : Oriel FeldmanHall) invites applications for a post-doctoral research associate (renewable one year appointment, start date flexible). Our lab uses behavioral, neuroimaging and psychophysiological techniques to explore the cognitive and neural basis of social decision-making (read more at FeldmanHallLab.com ). The post-doc will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing, funded research that spans multiple areas within the field of social psychology and neuroscience. The ideal candidate will have experience in cognitive and affective neuroscience, strong quantitative and statistical training, and an interest in understanding social decision-making and learning. The strongest applications will not only have a deep interest in moral cognition and social learning, but will also be creative and independent, taking innovative approaches to the study of social cognitive processes and their neural basis, especially with a focus of learning under social uncertainty. The position will include some freedom to develop and lead new research within the broader aims of the lab. Education & Experience Required: Doctor of Philosophy Degree in neuroscience, psychology, economics or a related field. Prior experience with fMRI data analysis is highly preferred, and proficiency in Matlab, R or equivalent is required. Visiting Assistant Professor
The Psychology Department invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position (PhD or ABD required), beginning July 1, 2020. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience at the college level. Area of research is open, but applicants with a background in neuroscience are particularly encouraged to apply. The teaching load will be the equivalent of five courses per year, including some combination of service courses (Introductory Psychology, Statistics, or Research Design), courses in the candidate’s specialty area, and supervision of senior research projects.
