Postdoctoral Fellow in Gesture Research at the University of Alberta
A postdoctoral position in gesture research is available in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alberta, working with Dr. Elena Nicoladis and Dr. Paula Marentette. This project is focused on understanding the relationship between visual analysis of a scene, language choice, and gesture production. Knowledge of a language other than English and/or experience with eye-tracking would be assets. Applications from candidates with research training in psycholinguistics, cognitive science, (applied) linguistics, or developmental psychology will be particularly well suited for this position. Postdoctoral responsibilities will include contributing to our ongoing research program as well as taking the lead on research projects within that program. In addition, the person in this position will have the opportunity to work with the research programs of graduate and undergraduate students associated with the lab. The position, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, is available for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Behavioral Statistics Open Rank Faculty
The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at Moffitt Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, is seeking a faculty member in the tenure-earning rank of Assistant/Associate Member with preference for strong expertise in behavioral statistics. Moffitt is affiliated with the University of South Florida and a University appointment is available in the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor as applicable. The Department currently has 18 faculty and approximately 27 staff engaged in a wide range of statistical and bioinformatics research and collaborations on clinical, biological, and behavioral studies in cancer and cancer prevention including novel therapeutic and drug discoveries, prognostic and predictive biomarker developments, chemoprevention, high throughput genomics, proteomics, epidemiological studies, health outcomes and behavioral research, comparative effectiveness research, clinical trial designs, and personalized medicine studies. Many of these projects draw upon Moffitt’s Total Cancer Care initiative, which provides access to a comprehensive set of clinical and molecular data on a large number of cancer patients. Postdoctoral Research Associate at Purdue University Position Summary Seeking to hire one or two postdoctoral researchers to collaborate with me across two grants on preschool children’s mathematical language development. One project is a National Science Foundation funded grant evaluating the impacts of mathematical language instruction on mathematics and spatial skills in preschool children. The other project is the final stages of evaluating a parent implemented mathematical language intervention for monolingual English speakers and dual language learners. The positions have the potential to be for up to two or three years depending on performance.   Responsibilities may include: intervention development, manuscript preparation, project management, presentation of findings, development of coding schemes for video and audio recordings, and development and implementation of dissemination events for families and schools. Postdoctoral fellow - Security surveillance and ocular-based adaptive technologies

Sebastien Tremblay is the director of the Co-DOT lab ( www.co-dot.ulaval.ca ) whose mission is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in cognitive science and neuroergonomics and to contribute to the research and development (R&D) of intelligent systems. This is a full-time position for 2 years (extensible) related to the optimization of the work conducted by surveillance operators using adaptive technologies. Surveillance operators must oftentimes monitor several security cameras simultaneously during long periods of time in an environment characterized by frequent distractions and interruptions. As part of this R&D project, the selected candidate will contribute to the development of an adaptive tool based on the analysis of operators’ eye movements in real time. The candidate will also be responsible for the scientific procedure and the elaboration of the experimental design aiming at testing the tool’s efficiency in laboratory and real-life settings. This project will be carried out in the context of a multisectoral (industry, Université Laval, Centre en imagerie numérique et médias interactifs , regional security surveillance centers) and multidisciplinary partnership (augmented reality, UX design and intelligent system engineering).
