Description The Department of Psychology at Hope College seeks applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position beginning Fall 2020 or sooner, with primary teaching responsibilities in developmental psychology. Other areas of specialization are welcome to apply (e.g., Psychology and Culture). Teaching responsibilities are three courses a semester, typically with one or two preparations per semester. Candidates will be expected to teach lifespan developmental psychology. Other courses may include Multicultural Psychology, Psychology and Culture, Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, or an advanced course in one's area of expertise. Because the Psychology Department is a national leader in faculty-student collaborative research, candidates should have a program of research that can excite and involve undergraduates. Being an outstanding teacher and engaging diverse undergraduates in all phases of the research process are two essential elements of this position. We also welcome innovative teachers who skillfully integrate research with teaching. We especially seek applicants who have demonstrated experience working with multiculturally diverse students. Start-up funds for research are available, along with applications for internal research support and assistance in seeking external funding. The Psychology Department at Hope College has 12 tenured/tenure-track faculty and graduates 60-90 majors per year. The Psychology Department also contributes to Hope College's interdisciplinary major and minor in neuroscience. Qualifications Applicants should have a completed PhD in psychology or a related discipline by August 2020.
