START DATE: AUGUST 2020 JOB SUMMARY The Department of Psychology at Berry College invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 2020. The successful candidate must be committed to excellent teaching in a liberal arts setting, and evidence of research and scholarly productivity is desirable. Candidates should possess a strong interest in mentoring students in a residential college environment and are encouraged to engage in scholarship that includes undergraduate students. In addition to teaching, the successful applicant is expected to be an active citizen in departmental and college-wide affairs. Primary teaching responsibilities include Sensation and Perception, Behavioral Neuroscience, History and Systems, and Introduction to Psychology. The Psychology Department consists of eight full-time faculty and is consistently ranked as the second largest major (~35-45 graduates per year). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Applicants should have a doctorate in Experimental Psychology, Biological Psychology, Behavioral Neuroscience, or related field. Applicants who are ABD should include documentation that their degree requirements will be completed by August 2020. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have teaching experience at the undergraduate level and able to contribute to teaching the department’s statistics and methods sequence. Willingness to work collaboratively with faculty and to mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds are essential.
