ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, TENURE TRACK PSYCHOLOGY PHD or JD/PHD   Psychology PhD or JD/PhD ( sub-discipline open; research interests related to intersection between Psychology and Law, broadly defined). The Department of Psychology at John Jay College invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the ASSISTANT PROFESSOR rank , to begin Fall 2020. The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm and demonstrated commitment to effectively teaching and mentoring diverse populations of students, develop and maintain an active research and publication agenda, have the potential to obtain external funding, and participate actively in service. The hiring committee is especially interested in applicants who, through their leadership, service, lived experience and/or research, will contribute to the diversity mission of the college. The Psychology Department has significant strength in forensically related and social justice areas and seeks applicants with complimentary interests (Ph.D. required).   Faculty will perform teaching, research and advising duties in area(s) of expertise; share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.   QUALIFICATIONS PhD, JD/PhD or equivalent in area(s) of expertise. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to teach successfully, has a demonstrated record of scholarship or achievement, and will be able to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Forty-seven percent of John Jay students are first-generation college students. The Department offers an undergraduate degree in Forensic Psychology, with roughly 2000 majors. Our well-established Master’s programs in Forensic Psychology and Forensic Mental Health Counseling enroll approximately 400 students from around the country and the world. The CUNY Graduate Center doctoral programs in Psychology & Law and Clinical Psychology @ John Jay are housed at John Jay as well. The Psychology & Law program trains research-focused scholars.
