Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track): Computational Cognitive Neuroscience
The Carnegie Mellon Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University intend to make a joint tenure-track faculty hire in the area of Computational Cognitive Neuroscience . Candidates should be pursuing programmatic, theory-driven experimental research that contributes to our understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive processes and/or interactions between cognitive and social, perceptual, or sensory processes. We are especially interested in candidates who will thrive in a collaborative research environment, have strong grounding in theory, use cutting-edge methods, are dedicated to high-quality teaching, and have strong training in computational approaches to understanding neural processing and cognition.   Carnegie Mellon is a highly collaborative and supportive environment for scientists seeking to span disciplines and employ multiple methodologies in their research. The Psychology Department and the Carnegie Mellon Neuroscience Institute both have long traditions of blending computation with cognitive science and neuroscience; Carnegie Mellon is a pioneer in research and training in neural computation, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. Additional resources available for research in this area include a variety of neuroimaging centers. Candidates with appropriate backgrounds will have opportunities to become involved in the Machine Learning Department or the Robotics Institute within our top-ranked School of Computer Science.   Carnegie Mellon offers highly competitive salaries and start-up packages in an attractive urban environment frequently rated as one of the most livable in the U.S. We are committed to building a diverse faculty within an increasingly broad university community, and we strongly encourage applications from women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, veterans, and other underrepresented groups. We also work actively to meet the needs of dual-career couples.   To be considered for a position beginning Fall 2020, applications will be considered on a rolling basis beginning on October 1, 2019.
