Visiting Assistant Professor
The Psychology Department invites applications for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position (PhD or ABD required), beginning July 1, 2020. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience at the college level. Area of research is open, but applicants with a background in neuroscience are particularly encouraged to apply. Assistant Professor of Psychology and Africana Studies
Binghamton University, State University of New York (SUNY), invites applications for an assistant professor (tenure-track) joint position in Psychology and Africana Studies, with tenure-home in Psychology, to start in Fall 2020. The search committee is interested in candidates conducting either basic or applied research in diversity science, which extends the boundaries of current psychological theory and creates new discoveries about the unique psychological processes relevant to the experiences of diverse populations. We are especially interested in candidates whose research addresses disparities in mental health access and care. This focus may be broadly interpreted, including identifying trends, causes, and remedies to the disparities in mental health services. This may also include understanding the barriers in receiving needed mental health care; the potential developmental, cognitive, neural, and physiological processes that serve as important markers of mental health in different cultures; or the development of empirically based strategies for reducing disparities in mental health access and outcomes. Lab Manager
Position summary: Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Professor Larisa Heiphetz, the Research Staff Assistant will support research activities in Columbia's Social and Moral Cognition Lab ( columbiasamclab.weebly.com ). Studies in the lab focus on children's and adults' moral cognition, with some studies investigating connections to religious cognition and/or to the criminal justice system. Typical responsibilities include assisting with creating stimuli, recruiting participants, coordinating data collection, organizing and maintaining participant database, ordering supplies and facilitating the preparation of forms and reports (e.g. IRB documentation). In addition to assisting with on-going projects, the lab manager will have an opportunity to develop his or her own studies.  This is a one-year position with the strong expectation of renewal for a second year and possibility of further renewals for additional years. Start date can be arranged with Professor Heiphetz and is expected to be sometime between June 1st, 2020, and September 1st, 2020.
