Postdoctoral research fellow in cognitive neuroscience and brain imaging
The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri (MU) has an opening for a POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW IN COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE AND BRAIN IMAGING . The position will involve undertaking advanced training in human brain imaging and cognitive neuroscience as well as pursuing the candidate’s own research interests under the supervision of one or more departmental faculty. Candidates who conduct research in any of the department’s areas (Clinical, Cognition & Neuroscience, Developmental, Social & Personality, and Quantitative) will be considered, with preference given to candidates who bridge research across areas. The fellow will be supported by the Miller Family Program in Cognitive Neuroscience and will be fully funded for an initial 2-year period, with possible renewal based on performance review and funding availability. The ideal candidate will have a record of research experience using one or more human neuroscientific techniques, such as MRI, fMRI, EEG/ERPs, and/or TMS. The department currently has 5 laboratories conducting EEG/ERP research, and the MU Brain Imaging Center (established in 2008) houses a 3T MRI scanner to support neuroimaging research within our department and across the university. Proficiency with a variety of statistical analyses and relevant software packages (MATLAB, Python, SPM/FSL/AFNI, R) is also desirable. The research fellow will be expected to be involved in collaboration and training activities with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and Ph.D. students in the department and to contribute to the university’s mission to enhance diversity and inclusion in mentoring students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds. The search committee is particularly interested in matching candidates to the existing strengths of the department, which include the clinical and cognitive aspects of alcohol use/addiction, human memory (episodic, working, and age-related factors), neurodevelopmental disorders (ASD, phenylketonuria), and motor injury and rehabilitation. Candidates interested in the research opportunities offered by a specific faculty member are encouraged to contact them directly for more information (see https://psychology.missouri.edu/research-labs ). The position could also provide collaborative opportunities across a variety of research units at MU, including the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, the School of Health Professions, and the School of Medicine. The position is expected to begin any time after June 1, 2019, but the review of applications will begin as soon as all materials are received. To apply, use the online application system at http://hrs.missouri.edu/find-a-job/academic (Job Opening ID: 28265) and be prepared to upload a CV, a statement describing your research interests and training goals, and up to 5 representative reprints. Contact Dr. Johnson with any questions about the position or Human Resource Services ( muhrs@missouri.edu ) with questions about the application process.  The University of Missouri is fully committed to achieving the goal of a diverse and inclusive academic community of faculty, staff and students.
