Postdoctoral Fellowship Position
The University of Pennsylvania, Social and Behavioral Science Initiative (SBSI) seeks applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship position for the 2019/2020 academic year. Funding is guaranteed for one year with the possibility of renewal for an additional year.  SBSI is a new interdisciplinary initiative comprised of scholars within the School of Arts and Sciences interested in the study of human social behavior and decision making. The position is designed for individuals who have recently obtained a PhD degree in psychology or a related behavioral science discipline. The position is intended as a springboard for excellent researchers to help them build and establish their own research program. We are particularly interested in applicants who will pursue collaborative research with more than one SBSI scholar. Applicants should specify in their research statement how their work connects with the interests of faculty in the SBSI. SBSI faculty are located primarily in the psychology department, but also in SAS departments that share an interest in human behavior and decision making, including communication, criminology, linguistics, philosophy, and political science.  Topics of interest of faculty include judgement and decision-making, morality and cooperation, social cognition and evolutionary and cultural origins of behavior. Benefits Fellows receive a competitive salary and health insurance plus a modest research and travel budget. Fellows also benefit from access to the greater community of academics and leading research facilities equipped with cutting-edge instrumentation all on an urban campus in a vibrant city. Postdoctoral Fellowship Focusing on Teen Suicide Risk Christine Cha, PhD, Director of the Laboratory for Clinical and Developmental Studies ( www.clinicaldevelopmentalstudies.com ) at Teachers College, Columbia University, is accepting applications for a 2-year postdoctoral research fellowship in the area of teen suicide risk. This position would involve studying various risk factors (e.g., childhood adversities, cognitive processes) for suicidal and self-injurious thoughts and behaviors among adolescents and young adults. This program of research ultimately aims to improve youth mental health in several areas of functioning (e.g., social, emotional, academic). The postdoctoral fellow will assist with the following duties: (1) manuscript preparation from existing datasets; (2) training and supervision of research assistants and graduate students for ongoing research studies funded by NIMH and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention; (3) hospital-based data collection/management; and other duties or projects as assigned. Grant-writing and furthering the fellow’s independent line of research will also be encouraged. Salary is $65,000/year + benefits across 2 years. Required Qualifications : Applicants with a PhD in Clinical Psychology or related discipline. THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER Department of Behavioral Science in the Division of Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences is accepting applications for an open rank, term tenure track position in the following two areas:   Behavioral and pharmacological treatment of obesity, diet and physical activity, psychological aspects of treatment, weight management compliance, caloric restriction and intermittent fasting, endocrine and metabolic mechanisms associated with obesity and other related areas of energy balance.   Development and application of new and emerging digital health technologies (e.g., mobile, wireless and sensor technology, online social networks, machine learning, artificial intelligence, big data) for behavioral assessment and intervention in cancer prevention and survivorship.   Target populations may include the general population, those with chronic medical comorbidities, minority and underserved, as well the cancer patient populations.   The successful candidate will participate actively in the Department of Behavioral Science’s robust research portfolio (i.e., nicotine psychopharmacology, smoking cessation, genetics of nicotine dependence, youth tobacco use prevention, affective neuroscience, psychosocial oncology, energy balance, biopsychosocial influences on cancer outcomes, adherence to complex regimens, caregiver and dyadic interventions, mind-body medicine, mobile and sensor applications for assessment and intervention, genetic and genomic testing, skin cancer prevention and/or another area related to cancer prevention and survivorship) and will also participate as a member in MD Anderson’s Center for Energy Balance in Cancer Prevention and Survivorship ( www.mdanderson.org/energybalance ), a transdisciplinary center that facilitates and conducts state-of-the-science research to understand the relationships between physical activity, nutrition, obesity and cancer, and uses this knowledge to optimize interventions to decrease cancer risk and improve cancer outcomes.   Applicants must have a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree. Stony Brook University Consortium Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (SBU-CPFP) Brief Description of Duties: The Leonard Krasner Psychological Center (KPC) and the Mind Body Clinical Research Center (MB-CRC) in the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry (respectively) at Stony Brook University seek 5 full-time Post-doctoral Fellows (4 Clinical Postdoc positions and 1 Clinical/Research Postdoc position). The Clinical Postdoc positions include 3 adult-focused positions and 1 child/adolescent position to provide outpatient and inpatient clinical services. Outpatient psychotherapy services include: assessment, consultation, and provision of time-limited evidence-based interventions (e.g., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). Inpatient clinical services will include working as part of an interdisciplinary team in either the psychiatric emergency department, consultation and liaison service, adult inpatient unit, or the child inpatient unit. Additional activities will include: providing support for ongoing research studies, assisting with training activities, and providing supervision to pre-doctoral psychology interns and externs. Postdocs may also participate in our comprehensive Dialectical Behavior Therapy Program (i.e., skills training, consultation team, and skill coaching).
