Postdoctoral Fellow Position at Stony Brook University
Stony Brook University seeks a full-time postdoctoral fellow to conduct research with Dr. Roman Kotov (Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology) and a diverse team of investigators. Duration and start time are negotiable.   We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow for a position on a research program with responders to the World Trade Center disaster. The program includes multiple studies that investigate (1) interplay between PTSD and medical conditions, (2) role of personality in mental and physical health outcomes, and (3) psychotherapy to improve these outcomes. These are longitudinal, multifaceted studies with sample sizes ranging from 450 to 10,000 patients. Extensive longitudinal data are already available on psychiatric symptoms, medical conditions, personality traits, life stress, real-world functioning, and biomarkers (e.g., inflammation, actigraphy). The fellow will work closely with advisory board to the program (Brent Roberts, Daniel Klein, Lee Anna Clark, Michael Bagby, Michael Zvolensky, Patricia Conrod, and Richard Zinbarg) in designing new studies.   The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for designing studies, supervising staff, conducting analyses, preparing manuscripts, and writing grants. Ongoing training will be available in statistical methods, grantsmanship, and substantive questions related to psychopathology, personality, and biomarkers. Clinical opportunities (e.g., psychotherapy with WTC responders) are also available, as well as supervision meeting licensure requirements.  Stony Brook University is a highly collaborative environment with close relationships between psychology, psychiatry, and medicine departments.   Qualifications include a 1) doctoral degree, 2) demonstrated expertise in psychopathology, as well as 3) a minimum of two first-authored publications. Familiarity with randomized clinical trials, diagnostic interviewing, and experience coordinating externally-funded studies are highly desired.  To apply, please email Roman Kotov ( roman.kotov@stonybrook.edu ) with your CV and contact information of three references. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Post-Doctoral Fellow
CLINICAL-RESEARCH POST-DOCTORAL POSITION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH, SCHOOL OF MEDICINE, DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY: This is a broad-span, multifaceted post-doc opportunity to study and learn about the life-long impact of very early-onset depressive disorders  on subsequent mental health, psychosocial functioning, and cardiovascular status in families and in both USA and overseas cohorts. A major focus is on the role of maladaptive emotion regulation and its relationship to psychophysiology in the onset and maintenance of these disorders. Our newest project with young and middle aged adults also examines how autonomic nervous system processes and decision making tendencies contribute to long-term affect regulatory profiles by implementing a neuro-economic approach to decision making.   Training opportunities include attendance in Departmental seminars, learning about cardiac psychophysiology (autonomic nervous system processes) and its assessment, and improving skills relevant to producing scientific articles and grant applications. The successful applicant will be expected to play an active and leading role in data analyses and publications. He/she also will be responsible for coordinating psychiatric diagnostic assessments, conducting some research clinical interviews with adults, and arriving at DSM diagnoses. If appropriate, he/she also can receive clinical supervision that can be used toward license certification. Duties may include additional tasks and span multiple projects. Requirements are: doctorate in clinical psychology or related field, 3+ years of clinical exposure including experience with standardized diagnostic assessment procedures, preferably in psychiatric settings with adults; experience in an academic clinical research setting; some familiarity with psychophysiology; and familiarity with the clinical and experimental literature on depression. Excellent communication, problem-solving, time management, and writing skills are essential. A multi-year commitment is expected. Qualified candidates (USA citizens or green card holders) may submit their CV and three (3) letters of recommendation via email: to kovacs@pitt.edu or by mail to Dr. Maria Kovacs, Childhood Depression Research Program, 3811 O’Hara Street, Pittsburgh, PA  15213. Applicants will be considered until the position is filled. The University of Pittsburgh is an Affirmative-Action and Equal Opportunity employer.

Postdoctoral research fellow in cognitive neuroscience and brain imaging
The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri (MU) has an opening for a POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW IN COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE AND BRAIN IMAGING . The position will involve undertaking advanced training in human brain imaging and cognitive neuroscience as well as pursuing the candidate’s own research interests under the supervision of one or more departmental faculty. Candidates who conduct research in any of the department’s areas (Clinical, Cognition & Neuroscience, Developmental, Social & Personality, and Quantitative) will be considered, with preference given to candidates who bridge research across areas. The fellow will be supported by the Miller Family Program in Cognitive Neuroscience and will be fully funded for an initial 2-year period, with possible renewal based on performance review and funding availability. The ideal candidate will have a record of research experience using one or more human neuroscientific techniques, such as MRI, fMRI, EEG/ERPs, and/or TMS. The department currently has 5 laboratories conducting EEG/ERP research, and the MU Brain Imaging Center (established in 2008) houses a 3T MRI scanner to support neuroimaging research within our department and across the university. Proficiency with a variety of statistical analyses and relevant software packages (MATLAB, Python, SPM/FSL/AFNI, R) is also desirable. The research fellow will be expected to be involved in collaboration and training activities with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and Ph.D. students in the department and to contribute to the university’s mission to enhance diversity and inclusion in mentoring students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds. The search committee is particularly interested in matching candidates to the existing strengths of the department, which include the clinical and cognitive aspects of alcohol use/addiction, human memory (episodic, working, and age-related factors), neurodevelopmental disorders (ASD, phenylketonuria), and motor injury and rehabilitation. Candidates interested in the research opportunities offered by a specific faculty member are encouraged to contact them directly for more information (see https://psychology.missouri.edu/research-labs ). The position could also provide collaborative opportunities across a variety of research units at MU, including the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, the School of Health Professions, and the School of Medicine. The position is expected to begin any time after June 1, 2019, but the review of applications will begin as soon as all materials are received. To apply, use the online application system at http://hrs.missouri.edu/find-a-job/academic (Job Opening ID: 28265) and be prepared to upload a CV, a statement describing your research interests and training goals, and up to 5 representative reprints. Although not required, you may also include a statement about your mentoring interests. Please arrange to have 3 letters of reference sent to Dr. Jeffrey Johnson ( jeffreyjohnson@missouri.edu ). Contact Dr. Johnson with any questions about the position or Human Resource Services ( muhrs@missouri.edu ) with questions about the application process.  The University of Missouri is fully committed to achieving the goal of a diverse and inclusive academic community of faculty, staff and students. We seek individuals who are committed to this goal and our core campus values of respect, responsibility, discovery and excellence. The University of Missouri is an Equal Opportunity/Access/Affirmative Action/Pro Disabled & Veteran Employer.
